Autumn-Necklace

It's autumn in the air. And here is the story of my Autumn-necklace.

All the way from our neighborhood streets in Walnut Creek , CA to the tree studded lanes of Central Park,New York, where I went to visit my daughter for the Thanksgiving, I found stunning burst of colors.

The tangerine orange, crimson red, burnt sienna, toasted cinnamon and lovely yellow ochre on the leaves, on the trees just mesmerized me. I couldn't wait to create something with this energetic inspiration.

I couldn't wait for the mail order deliveries either, so I went to our neighborhood bead store in Concord - "Just Bead It" and bought some lovely indigo-violet glass leaf beads.

Then I created my Autumn-necklace.

To make this necklace :

Materials needed:

1” gold chain

3 glass leaf beads

14 dark brown faceted small beads (5mm)

9 gold filled faceted small beads (2 to 3 mm)

25 tiny seed beads (orange, brown, yellow in assorted mix)

11 Czech glass amber teardrop beads ( 6mm approx)

1 toggle clasp

Gold filled wire.

1 head pin

Tools:

Round nose pliers

Chain Nose pliers

Wire cutter

Direction:

1.To make the central pendant take one leaf bead and cut 3” gold filled wire. With the wrapped loop technique attach the leaf at the very end of the 1” gold chain.

2.Similarly attach the other two leaves on the gold chain keeping them kind of equidistant from each other.

3.Attach the three amber tear drops in the same way using the wrapped loop technique.

4. Take one gold filled faceted small bead and one tiny seed bead. Insert them in the head pin . (Keep the seed bead at the bottom). With plain wrapped loop technique fasten it with the gold chain also.

4.Now the pendant is done. To do the rest of the necklace, cut 3” of the gold filled wire.

5.With wrapped loop technique attach one end with the other end of the gold chain. Insert one gold bead, one brown faceted bead, one gold bead, and make a wrapped loop again.

6.Similarly make the next one, this time instead of the gold beads use seed beads.

7.Follow the pattern until the necklace reaches your desired length. I made it 16” (40 cm) long. So each side is 8”.From the picture you can see I made seven such entries.

8.Now attach the amber tear drops with the same wrapped loop technique and attach them at the loops where the two wrapped loop entries merge. See picture.

9.Attach the toggle clasp at the very end with the same wrapped loop technique. Now the Autumn-necklace is done.

Don't you hesitate to deviate from this pattern. This is just an inspiration that I am passing on to you . I was so blessed and lucky to receive it from nature.
