8 Special Ways to Celebrate Mother's-Day this year
Mother's-Day is coming closer. Here are 8 special ways to celebrate it this year.
I lost my mom two years ago. So this time of the year is hard for me. As I was thinking of her, a small voice whispered inside me - she is not gone forever. She is rather present in me, in my daughter and then my baby grand daughter. The cycle goes on like this. And we have to remember to pass on that what is most precious in us. With all these thoughts I created a jewelry piece where I integrated the birthstones of the members of our four generations. My mom- sapphire, me crystal (in lieu of diamond), my daughter- ruby and our grand daughter Zoe has amethyst.

So here are the ideas for Mother's-Day this year:
1. Make a jewelry piece, integrating your mom's birthstone and that of yours and her other children or grand children as you like.
2. As a jewelry artist you must have given her many jewelry pieces. Why not give her the gift of special time this year when you repair her broken favorite ones. Ask her which ones are her favorite and why. Listen to the stories associated with them.Later pass them on to the next generation.
3.Help her organize her jewelry. Take some time how creative you can be. Involve her and accommodate her wishes and needs and help her from there.
4.Plant something in her garden or container garden if she does not have a plot to plant on the ground. Involve your child in this process if possible Read some stories together that involves the concept of life cycle.
5.Make a card or simply write a note to her telling her why she is special to you. Down the memory lane revisit those moments and pluck them up now to bring her a bouquet of gratitude. That is far more precious than a store bought card. Again involve your little one if possible. Give her some bright stickers, colorful marker pens and paper and instill the value of giving hand made products.
6. Cook or bake some goodies for mom this year instead of taking her to a crowded restaurant. You may even start a tradition of documenting the items you cooked and ate in a special family cook book and pass that on to the next generation.
7.Share the story about how the tradition of Mother's Day started and what is really important. Do you know that in North America the tradition of Mother's Day was started by Anna Jarvis and unfortunately she had to spend all her inheritance and the rest of her life fighting for the
abuse of this celebration
The commercialism and exploitation associated with this celebration really infuriated her.
Still Mother's-Day generates about 8% of the annual revenue in jewelry business, and this is the busiest day in the restaurant industry.
8. Most importantly celebrate your own motherhood or yourself, having some quiet time just to spend alone and enjoy.
Take yourself to a book store or your favorite place where your soul feels nourished.
Buy a pretty journal for you where you discover your inner self
Take a walk to your favorite place and listen to the world around you.
Take a candle light bath with your favorite smells and enjoy.
