Five important ways of marketing your jewelry

Here are five important ways of marketing your jewelry.

1. Wearing your own hand crafted jewelry

Be prepared with your business cards when a stranger or neighbor compliments your jewelry. In a recent survey (taken by Dr. David Weiman, a jewelry artist, author and renowned psychologist) it is found that 92.8.2% of the jewelry maker use this strategy. Many admitted that there were even sales right there while they had to take off the jewelry from their own wrist or neck to make a new client.

2. Encourage friends/relatives to tell others about your jewelry

In the same survey 85.2 reported that they use this strategy. This can happen offering commission as I described in the jewelry selling page where sellers used local offices. In this case, the sellers give their hand crafted items as gifts to their friends, family members and relatives. When the recipient wears these jewelry, they bring more chances for the jewelry to be seen and appreciated. Loved ones wear their jewelry and talk about it and may bring sales. Don't forget to give some of your business cards to your friends too to pass.

3.Face book and Twitter and other social mediaplaces

36% reported that they use face book, twitter or other such strategies

Using your face book profile and other social media network is a new way of talking and marketing your jewelry. One book that really helped me understand the impact of this whole concept in today's world, how to use the social networking system, and set goals in marketing is Rena Klingenberg's e book.

From this 191 page e book I learned many things. I have not tried everything that she wrote but the ones that were helpful especially are:

1. I understood how to increase my blog audience

2. Where should I focus in my Social Marketing Goals and how to keep track of my efforts. Understand what is working.

3.How to find my niche and the appropriate social networking sites.

4. What are the strategies for using niche forums

5.How to use social shopping sites for Social Marketing

and so much more. Try this book for yourself.

It was a well investment for me. Every penny worth the price.

4. Having a web site of your own - using it for marketing your jewelry and selling online.``

42% reported that they do have a web site of their own

If you are not sure how to make your own web site or if you are not ready to hire some one to make it for you, or may be you are not certain which one is the best way to go, I'll tell you why you may consider SBI

1.SBI gives you the option to make your own website where you can have a shopping cart and pay pal procedure. Pay pal is the safest way for shopping online and even if your customers do not have a pay pal account they can still use their credit cards through pay pal. Pay pal's procedure explains this clearly.

Also, you may want to spell out your conditions, shipping policies and all that clearly.

2. You'll need to send e mails to your clients for marketing your jewelry, to inform them about your upcoming events, sales etc and of course through newsletters. SBI has that option built in. So, that way you don't have to use another service and pay for that.

5. Your own page on someone else's site like etsy, e bay etc.

According to survey report 28.6% use this form for marketing their jewelry.

I use Etsy because I started it before I had SBI, and my business cards have that information which I do not want to change now. Though Etsy is very crowded, especially for jewelry sellers, the forum is helpful.

There is a whole lot to explore in this area of marketing your jewelry and understanding customers' psychology, pricing your product and all that.

Dr.Weiman's e book helped me personally, where he had explained all these things more lucidly. His experience as a jewelry businessman and a professional psychologist also give a different depth and credibility.
